I am doing toad in the hole. What oil do I need to put in the roasting dish and how long does it need to be heated for before adding the sausages?

I then need how long to cook the oil and sausages before adding the batter and then how much again.

I have thousands of recipe books but never found a recipe that works perfectly.

I have a fan oven.

If I cook the sausages first, no oil, will there be enough fat to stop the batter sticking?

I always brown the sausages first.

Heat your oil in a roasting tin until it's smoking hot then add your sausages and batter.

I usually use sunflower or groundnut oil, or duck fat.

I've found more success using individual yorkshire pud tins with half a browned sausage in each than a big tin. Doesn't go as soggy.

Thanks a lot!

So batter and sausages together? How long do they need?

Good idea about individual puds. DS2 will love that.

I cook the sausages, put them on a plate, prepare tin for yorkies as normal, pour batter and drop a sausage in, about half an hour in a hot oven.

I like the idea of individual ones too - more crispy bits

If you're making one big one, it takes about half an hour in a hot oven - just until it's all puffed up and golden

I am doing individual ones. DS1 says he can eat 4!!
