Casual Dinner Party Ideas

Hi

Well Iam calling it a dinner party but it just a meal for husband and i and another couple.

To sum up we recently got married abroad - when we got back we took friends and family for a meal but a was on holiday at the time so we have invited them round for dinner. Usually we would have just taken them out for a meal but we're skint after everything else!!

I have never really had people over to eat as Iam not the best of cooks and also feel nervous about 'entertaining'.

Anyway has anyone got any ideas about what to cook. I was thinking maybe lasgne or chilli but I thought that might be too basic?

Do you think I need a starter - or will maybe just some olives and garlic bread do the job?

All suggestions appreciated.

Have a trawl through the BBC Good Food site -there's loads on there for inspiration.

Can you do a roast chicken? Everyone loves that. Lots of lemony flavours with some cous cous and a rocket salad?

Then if you look on here Dizzy has a fantastic (easy) white chocolate cheesecake which you could serve with berries. Looks super impressive and tastes delicious.

PS Olives, nibbles etc delicious for starter

I love chilli personally - especially with loads of nachos, rice, cheese, guacamole, sour cream etc. If you want to posh it up a bit, you could do it with chunks of beef instead of mince.

Olives/nibbles etc. is a great starter.
