low fat snack ideas?

With my mid-morning coffee and afternoon cuppa, I would normally eat something by Mr Kipling or a pastry. However, I'm pregnant, put on just over a stone in first trimester and I need your advice on quick low fat snacks.

All I can come up with is fruit (not very filling) and toasted pitta and homous (but 1 pitta is never enough!).

Needs to be quick and filling!

Add some carrot sticks to the pita and hummus? Can be quick if you cut up a lot at once and keep in water in the fridge.

Has the midwife told you to monitor your eating?

I would take the coffee out to sit the garden and then you are far far away from the biscuit tin.

And who said you could put those nasty cakes in the supermarket trolley!?!!

No one has really told me to watch my weight. Midwife was concerned, but not enough to refer me to a Consultant. She did stress that I shouldn't eat for two. GP told me to low carb (just cut out bread, pasta and pastries etc) and I did for a bit and lost a little, but with the bad weather we've had over the past couple of months, I've just craved a bit of stodge. I've gone over board and my problem is that I just don't feel full anymore!

I'm cutting out tea and coffee too as I have to have sugar in them and can't stand sweetner.

Have a huge tub of fruit salad ready mixed in your fridge, scoop some out mid morning and sprinkle on some yoghurt and granola. Big bowls of wholewheat pasta's with lots of veg or salad mixed into them. Cereal bars, Weight Watchers cakes if you absolutely must scoff some cake.

I was ravenous 24/7 when PG, I found that eating stuff that I could eat tons of, like the fruit salad, was a lot more satisfying than a cake that was gone in 3 bites.

Pepper slices are great with humous too, also remember to always go wholemeal for weight loss, less starch to stick to your insides
