Slow cooker virgin!

I am a slow cooker virgin and planning to cook a whole chicken in it. what's the best way? Don't you have to take all the skin off? TIA

I did this on Monday using this as a guide. Basically I put the whole chicken on a base of chopped onion and whole garlic cloves, stuffed the chicken with some onion marmalade, put some butter under the skin and added a small glass of stock. I didn't bother doing anything to the skin since I figured it would just fall off anyway and wouldn't flavour the meat at all.

DH is very pleased with it and says it's yummy (I don't eat meat so wouldn't know). Smelt lovely cooking too and the meat does just fall off.
