Grasshopper Pie?

Hi all! Been struggling with this one for years, I wonder if anyone can help at all?

Grasshopper Pie was my absolute favourite dessert as a child. Used to be able to get it frozen in the supermarket, and a pub near my grandparents used to serve it too. However I guess it's fallen out of favour, as I haven't seen it served anywhere for years. Now most people I talk to have never even heard of it!

As far as my memory tells me (considering that it was nearly two decades ago and I was quite young!) it was basically a mint-chocolate tart... Bright green, thick creamy mousse served on a chocolate tart base, with chocolate flecks in the mousse and curls on top.

I've been searching recipe books for several years now and not found anything close to how I remember. There are a few recipes online, but they seem to involve melting down marshmallows, mixing with creme-de-menthe and ending up with an alcoholic foamy-gooey mess, which I'm sure isn't what I remember... Though I could be wrong!

So I guess my question is two fold...

Firstly, does anyone else remember this dessert and can you help prompt my memory on what exactly it was like?

Secondly, does anyone have any good recipes for it??

Thanks in advance!

haven't heard of it, but was intrigued to google !

Would it be like a minty cheesecake mix made with gelatine, rather than melting marshmallows ?

Sounds about right! The mint part was not quite as solid as a cheesecake mix, however... Far as I recall it was more like a thick chocolate mousse.
