Brioche

Is it possible to make brioche if one does not own a profession style mixer? I've always been intimidated to try as all the recipes call for one, and the closest thing i have is a hand-held mixer with a dough hook. I'm really craving to make a gateau a la creme after watching Raymond Blanc make one (yeah, I know - he makes everything look easy!) and was wondering if anyone had any experience making brioche without a mixer. Thanks in advance for your help.

absolutely! I've made brioche many times by hand, its just like any loaf. You have to be careful to try and keep the air in it is all.

By hand? But isn't the dough super sticky and difficult to handle? I'm in awe! Do you do the whole thing by hand, or do you mix in a bowel with the hand-held mixer (what I was thinking of doing)?
