I made sticky toffee and chocolate shortbread this morning. I have just come back and the chocolate hasn't set. it is almost impossible to get it out of the tin without it all breaking up and I am not happy. I did everything it said in the method - even greasing the tin which I normally don't bother with.

try popping it in the freezer for 20mins or so, then use a palette knife (or, you know, an ordinary knife! who the hell has a palette knife??) to loosen round the edges.

then put it all in an envelope and post it to me, thanks very much!

It is in the fridge now to try and firm it up. The kids liked it. They don't care about presentation.

I woud eat it with a spoon straight from the tin.

Some recipes are just not reliable btw, also worth getting an oven thermometer to make sure it's set right.

I don't have a palette knife either, but had to say what a great name 'hairymelons'!

No, it's cos I couldn't pronounce my name when I was little and it came out as 'ary-mellen. And it stuck.
