My shortbread has turned out rubbish!

Why?? I don't do baking usually as I hate it but thought I'd make the effort for the kids and make Easter biscuits. I used this recipe...

And the result is a big amalgamated mess in the baking tray. All the lovely biscuits have melted together. What did we do wrong??

I do:
9oz plain flour
3oz caster sugar
6oz butter
whizz them in the Kenwood chef, roll em out and pop em in gas mark 3 for 30 mins til golden. Made some yesterday and they were lovely.

So we used way too much butter then I guess. Thanks Reikizen. The stodge tastes great though I have to say!
