Urgent spud query - dauphinoise or something else?

All the potato dauphinoise recipes I find have garlic in them. I am thinking of a creamy buttery sliced potato dish without garlic. And with cheese maybe? Would that just be barstardised dauphinoise or is there another dish I am thinking of?

I'm sure it would be nice without the garlic, you could just add some chopped herbs such as rosemary.

Is that Pommes Anna?
I bastardise it as well, as think without the cheese it tastes bland and boring.

Cheers m'dears.

I just bodged something with cream and butter and cheese.

Will stop calling it dauphinoise.

Well @ my children.

They gobbled up their grilled fish and steamed broccoli and then spent the next 15 minutes pushing their delicious creamy, cheesy potatoes around their plate.

"One more mouthful of potato and then you can have some more broccoli"

"No, no more fish, we need to leave some for Daddy"

Like I need any excuse to eat extra creamy buttery carby goodness.

It was nice.
