Can I use non-dairy yogurt instead of normal yogurt in a muffin recipe?

I normally make these - want to make them for my dairy-allergic niece - what should I use instead of the yogurt? I think she eats Alpro yogurts - would that work?

I'm pretty sure you can. I use Alpro Soya Milk in place of normal milk in cooking cos I'm dairy intolerant so I think the yogurts would work. I'm going to try it too!

franch - do you use the yogurt carton as a measure for the oil and flour? by "carton" as a unit of measurement!!!

franch · 29/03/2010 17:38

Thanks bran. Yes you just tip the yogurt out then use the carton to measure everything else out. It's a wonderfully rough, forgiving, idiot-proof recipe. I am now famed for my muffins and required to bring them to all brunch-type events! Try them

I like idiot proof! Lol!!!

Nothing personal bran

Not at all, idiot-proof is right up my street at the moment!

BranflakeGirl · 30/03/2010 19:09

franch - not 100% idiot proof, guess who almost forgot to add eggs?!

franch · 30/03/2010 21:40

(erm, I've done that before myself ...)

How are they?

Hi Franch,
as well as being a Mum I work as the dietitian for Alpro ! I've been using soya as an alternative to dairy in recipes for years, it works just as well. The peach muffins go down very well with my little girl, you can use soya yogurt - the recipe is on the Alpro website if you want to have a go. I prefer using tinned peaches as they give a bit more sweetness - very yummy !

Thanks soya - I'm wedded to the MN recipe I'm afraid but did try it with Alpro yogurt (blueberry) and they turned out great.
