Lemon Sauce

Can anyone recommend a lemon sauce recipe for cakes? I'm going to make lemon cupcakes for DH and rather than using frosting would like to use a sauce since he's a big fan of lemon drizzle cake.

By frosting do you mean buttercream?

My lemon drizzle cake I just mix lemon juice and zest with icing sugar - this gives a pourable sauce if you use enough lemon juice.

taffetacat Yes, frosting is icing (sorry, American and use both words) so something like a buttercream. I have a recipe for a lemon buttercream type but thought a sauce/drizzle would be good to try.
