Can I slow roast a chicken?

I have a 1.4kg chicken to roast this afternoon, I want it to be ready for about 5, before P goes to work. It's supposed to take 1hrs 50, is there any formula or anything to cook it longer at a lower temp?

I don't know much about kitchen things!

Hiya - our oven isn't working properly, it's not getting up to the right temp and yesterday i roasted a medium size chicken in 5 hours!!!!

So it can be done!!

Thank you! Hope your oven gets cooked soon. I haqve just put it on at 170 instead of 190 and will leave it an extra half hour, see where that gets us.

Umm, intersting. I meant to say gets fixed soon although the image of a naughty oven getting cooked as punishment for not getting hot enough has brought a smile to my face.

Should be fine - it might be worth covering it with some foil to stop it drying out. Sounds yummy, could just nibble a chicken leg now....

turn it upside down for the last hour as makes the breast juicy

The naughty oven is being cooked as we speak!
