Can I use white sugar in ginger biscuits?

Here's the thing, I work and one day a week my Mum has my DD. I thought I would make some Ginger Cookie dough tonight and leave it in the fridge overnight for them to roll and cut and bake tomorrow but I realise I don't have any brown sugar.

So, can I use white sugar instead? I cannot use egg as DD is allergic to raw eggs so I know the ginger recipe is OK.

Please help? I need a dough that I can leave overnight in the fridge.

Many thanks

Ah- just realized I only have plain flour as well.... hmmmm, how can I make it into self-raising? Is it adding baking powder? I can never remember!

As you will see, I am fairly useless in the kitchen. And to think I was going to try the Katsu Curry recipe I saw on this board!! ROFL.
