In short, does anyone know where I can buy it? Does it have a more British name? My recipe book is Australian.

TIA

I saw this in the supermarket yesterday with the semolina and such

Isn't it just ground almonds?

You can make it yourself with blanched (skinless, uncooked) almonds in the food processor. Just blitz them until they look like coarse sand.

You can blanch almonds buy soaking them in boiling water for a minute or so until the skins slip off.

Had a think about this.
Is almond flour the same as almond meal?
I 'think' it is but would like somebody to agree with me.

And

Let us have the recipe, that would be a bigger clue

Thanks for your replies so far.

I googled "Almond Meal" and got information about almond flour so I suspect it's the same but even so, no idea where to find it.

The recipe is for lemon polenta cake - from the photo in the book, it appears to have a similar texture to bakewell tart (in fact, it was this very photo that made me buy the book!)

The ingredients include butter, sugar, lemon juice and eggs. There's 500g of almond meal to 300g polenta but no other flour.

Any idea??

Google it again. It's ground almonds.

Seriously

brilliant, thanks Zachary. Two years after buying that book, I'm finally going to make it!
