Home- made Gnocchi

I am thinking about having a go at making gnocchi, but after searching for recipes have been left a bit confused as to which one to use. Some say with egg, some without, some say waxy potatoes, some with floury potatoes, some just say potatoes. So how do you make yours? Which is the best way?

i never use egg, but then we're dairy/egg free here so i wouldn/t! lol
i just use whatever potatoes come in the abel and cole box

I've only just realised how easy it is to make gnocchi... I am ridiculously pleased with this new found knowledge!! Anyway I just used cheap multi purpose potatoes, mixed fresh herbs, a little flour and an egg mashed and mixed it all together, froze half of them and they boiled up fine... DH loves them with baked beans for breakfast!
