Hi all,

I'm stuck in a rut with the same old food. I heard someone say 'pasta bake' this morning and now i have a craving for it. I've not eaten a p/bake for erm well pre dd and she's nearly 5 lol

Does anyone have any recipes?

Really want to try new foods. So all ideas very much welcome

amidaiwish · 20/03/2010 18:39

do you like chorizo? i have a good one if you do...

JackBauer · 20/03/2010 19:26

Our version of pasta bake is basically lasagne with pasta shapes. Just stick in dry pasta, pour over bolognese and then pour over cheese sauce. Top with grated cheese, bang in oven for 20 minutes and eat. Much easier than lasagne, and easier to serve/for DC's to eat.

Anyone who suggests Tuna is a weirdo BTW

Dd2 likes pasta with sweetcorn and broccoli, then cheese sauce poured over, sliced tomatoes on top, then baked.

ok my chorizo bake is:

red pepper deseeded and cut into 4 - grill on griddle pan
aubergine cut into 4, brush with olive oil and grill on griddle pan

  • cut both into strips and put aside

fry a handful of chopped fresh basil in some olive oil for a couple of mins, then add a tin of tomatoes. simmer for 5 mins then add black pepper. add peppers & aubergines.

meanwhile boil some pasta (i like rigatoni for this the best). drain when al dente

mix pasta into the tomato, pepper, aubergines. put into an ovenproof dish.

then chop some chorizo and scatter through the pasta bake.

chop some mozzarella and sprinkle over the top.

cook at 180 for 30mins.

delish, worth the chopping and faffing!

is macaroni cheese a pasta bake?

Sainsbo's mag has a good one in this month - and 3 variations on it

BariatricObama · 22/03/2010 21:16

juneybean · 22/03/2010 21:18

I quite like tuna pasta bake

PrettyFeckinVacant · 22/03/2010 22:12

Mmmmmm amidaiwish - I like the sound of that one with the chorizo. Might have to give that a go

BertieBotts · 22/03/2010 22:19

Tuna and pasta is actually really good.

This is nice - from a Jamie Oliver book. I didn't bother with the poncy ingredients and just used tinned tuna and dried basil, and it was still nice. The cinnamon sounds odd but it tastes lovely. You could top this with cheese or breadcrumbs and bake or just eat as it is.

shoofly · 24/03/2010 12:40

this Chicken & Broccoli one is nice

Silly question but do you cook the pasta before you bake it or not?

Bucharest · 29/03/2010 10:48

Cook it for half the specified time on the packet, no longer or it turns into wallpaper paste.

icecoldcatsbum · 29/03/2010 10:49

Thanks!! I'm going to give it a go too!! Thanks for the idea!

PotatoGirl · 29/03/2010 11:00

Hi guys,

Most pasta bakes also work with potatoes. Substitute poasta for sliced or dices potato and you'll have a more nutritious and natural meal.

Happy baking!
