What has your toddler / pre-schooler had for tea tonight?

Mine ( DS1 3.4, DS2 1.5) have had Bangers and Mash with gravy, peas and sweetcorn, followed by slices of melon, and 5 Loveheart sweets (DS1 only)

Disclaimer: We don't do the sweets part daily, honest

I'm looking for inspiration as I feel like I serve up the same old stuff over and over again.

Due to our working hours, they only eat with DH and I on Sundays.

So tonight I made chicken pasta with sweetcorn, peas and green beans, (dp had oven chips instead of the pasta) Ds screamed and messed about throughout the meal, wouldn't even try any of it, just picked up all his veg and squeezed it to death. Then nicked two of dp's chips and asked for pudding. (He didn't get any, obviously!)

Don't know what else to do, all he's had today is a bit of scrambled egg on toast, crisps and homemade cake, so now he's got a cup of milk and some grapes and I'll be putting him to bed in a minute. I'm really cross that he won't even try anything.

CMOTdibbler · 20/03/2010 20:17

DS (3.10) had assorted sushi rolls, a raspberry jelly, a bagel and a banana. For lunch he had had calamari, crab claws, egg fried rice and prawn crackers.

He must be about to have a growth spurt, as had also had a lot of fruit and two breakfasts

debka · 20/03/2010 21:02

DD (11mo) had lasagne and sweetcorn, a clementine and yoghurt mixed with smoothie.

ThePinkOne · 20/03/2010 21:18

jamesandthegiantbanana DD went through a phase a while ago (She's 3.3 - it was probably 6 months up to about 3) where she wouldn't try anything new and went off a lot of favourites. I think it's quite common.
I always tried to get her to taste everything but quite often ended up having weetabix or cornflakes for pudding so she didn't wake up hungry at 5am (which she does if she's not eating properly!) I tried not to make it an issue and always say she needs to have a 'good go' at her dinner before she can have anything else. You can make that mean anything you like! So as long as she's eaten all the and tried most of the rest, I would let her have yogurt/fruit/cereal/toast. She's back to normal now. Hope he comes round

We all had carrot and lentil soup with crackers and cheese, yogurt, birthday cake and blueberries. The DC (DS is 1) had boiled egg and soilders for lunch at DD's request.

Chicken Tikka Massala and rice with grapes for afters DS is 22mo and loves strong flavors. I'm hoping it'll get rid of his 3 month cough. He eats anything we eat the greedy little dude he is.

jennifersofia · 20/03/2010 21:27

potatoes cut in cubes, cooked, then pesto stirred through with parmesan on top, smoked mackeral ( a real fav), spinach with a bit of cream in and brownie.

frasersmummy · 20/03/2010 21:31

today ds(4.5) has had 2 weetabix, a big bowl of rice crispies, 2 slice of wholemeal toast

chilli and rice, roll and cheese, and then 4 fish fingers and potatoe croquettes

Plus because its the weekend he has had choc crips etc

I cant fill him up

compo · 20/03/2010 21:34

Jamesandthegiantpeach - maybe the problem was your dp eating oven chips in front of your ds and him having pasta
just a thought

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2010 21:35

sausage, mash, peas.
No pudding as she ate tons of cake earlier today after a wet stomp in the park.

So, nothing inspiring here i am afraid. She adores sausages. and fish fingers...

NinthWave · 20/03/2010 21:35

Mine is poorly and off his food - requested pancakes with cheese for his dinner, followed by half an orange and a handful of mini eggs. Seemed to perk him up!

crumblequeen · 20/03/2010 21:36

DS (2.0) had salmon pasta and roasted parsnip/squash on the side (sucked but not eaten!) - same as DH and I.

I made smoothies afterwards but he had run off to play with fire engines by then so he didnt want any!! Had a yogurt before bed instead.

littleoldme · 20/03/2010 21:37

Ds had pasta with grated cheese and chopped tomato on top. Followed by two fromage frais and some grapes.

Bumperlicious · 20/03/2010 21:39

Spaghetti with pesto and sausages (not particularly good quality I'm afraid), yoghurt and a gingerbread man. She's a bit of a picky eater and never fails to amaze me how little she can survive on.

cravingcroissants · 20/03/2010 21:39

DD (2 yrs) has had:

Roast chicken, mashed potatoes, cauliflower and peas.
Trifle.
A clementine.

biglips · 20/03/2010 21:42

dd2 (18 m) had lasagne with pepper and chilli tomatoes in it and carmelised yoghurt (all at my mums)

fairybubbles · 21/03/2010 18:49

DS(3.0yrs) had roast chicken (some breast and a leg), a potato waffel, and lots of tomatoes. We also had mixed salad and coleslaw on the table which he wasnt interested in. After dinner he had apple and grapes and a large glass of milk.

llareggub · 21/03/2010 19:01

Chilli, sour cream, guacamole, wraps and a little rice followed by poached pear, grape juice syrup and a scoop of ice-cream, though the 11 month old had yoghurt not ice cream.

PavlovtheCat · 21/03/2010 21:48

lasagne, handful of chopped up red & yellow peppers, tomatoes, celery, one slice of french bread, slice of quiche, spoonful of tuna pasta, half a sandwich, etons mess, chocolate crispy cake, christening cake! (a party!).

pasta with a dolmio stir in sauce it was either that or KFC

BikeRunSki · 22/03/2010 22:30

The toddler that normally lives on air has not stopped eating all day, except to run around. At one point he even dragged his high chair over to me! for tea he had beans on toast, a Babybel, an apricot yoghurt and another piece of toast. I think he is making up for the last year. This was about an hour after he had had a bagel and butter/jam at a soft play centre.

winnybella · 22/03/2010 22:35

DD (13m) had just sweet potato puree with a lamb chop and a fromage frais. She had bananas and strawberries in the afternoon, though.

JaynieB · 22/03/2010 22:39

DD (3) had scrambled egg and bread and butter followed by a mini magnum! Yum!

shinyshoes · 23/03/2010 22:31

tonight she has had thai yellow curry and rice.

with a satsuma for dessert.

petisa · 24/03/2010 16:32

Last night dd (22 months) had basmati rice, broccoli and lentils in tomato sauce (she eats them as long as I exclaim "look at those lovely little beans!" a lot)

Tonight carrot soup with crusty bread and Philly.
