meatballs! what are your favourite recipes for making meatballs? I really fancy having a go at this, never tried before.

TIA

This is how I do them.

450/500g beef mince
1 onion
1 red pepper
3-4 cloves garlic
salt, pepper and oregano
chilli/chilli flakes, if you want

In a food processor, proces the onions, pepper, garlic and chilli, if using.

Once finely chopped, add the mince and the seasonings and process again until it's all well blended.

Tip out on to a chopping board and then roll into in balls the size of a large walnut.

Put each one into an oven tray, then bake in a hot oven for around 20 minutes.

I serve them with spaghetti and a garlicky tomato sauce, and lots of parmesan.

I've made Jamie Oliver's ones from ministry of food before (recipe is online) and they're yummy

I think I might have left out the chilli though. I deffo didn't use it (kids hate the stuff) but can't remember if it was in the recipe or not

my children love these

thanks BecauseImworthit - will have a go at this tomorrow. I just fancy doing something different from spag bol and lasagne.

do you make your own sauce?

ArticRoll that recipe looks ok then I saw the sweet and sour sauce and DH hates the stuff so that would be a no-no for family meal. may follow the meatball recipe though. Thank you

Absolutely!

Large glug of olive oil, a finely chopped onion and 2 tins of chopped tomatoes. Season.

Cook for around 20 mins until reduced a little.

Add a couple of finely chopped cloves of garlic and, if you've got any, some chopped fresh basil a couple of minutes before you're ready to serve.

I then mix the sauce with the spaghetti, and serve the meatballs on the side.

BTW - that's enough for 4 people.

lovechoc · 19/03/2010 15:17

thanks, that's super!
