How long can you keep meat in freezer?

I have just discovered some sausages in our freezer - they are 6 months old!

Is it ok to defrost and cook them for tonight's tea (am planning on toad in the hole)!

I never know how long I can freeze meat for (especially chicken).

Meat in the freezer stays safe basically forever. But the texture and flavour are likely to deteriorate after about a month I think.

Sausages don't have a texture you'd worry about though!

6 months? 6 years might be a problem, but 6 months is nothing. Eat them and enjoy them!

Forever. Ish.

Brilliant - toad in the hole it is then! Good to know. Thanks for your prompt replies.

Well, I had to chuck some belly pork which had gone a bit grey but that had been in the freezer about 2 years

6 months is nothing.
