stewing fruits?????

i tend to stew a lot of fruits for DS (10 months) with cinnamon or vanilla in bulk and then freeze it in cubes to add with other things for pudding, breakfast.

I wondered if i am reducing the goodness from the fruit by doing this.

Any one know by how much or am i woorying over the slightest difference?

Think any loss would be negligable as its not like cooking carrots in water and throwing out the water which is where any loss would occur.

try steaming - it keeps the goodness in more. then just mash with a fork and you can freeze as normal (do you use ice cube trays?)

yes i cube them but stewing them makes them more watery so when they're whizzed they are runny and i add his breakfast cereal to it for brekkie.

if you want them runny you could steam and add water before whizzing

Agree with tarantula; the goodness stays in the water when you stew, so there's no real benefit to steaming.
