Risotto rice in a Paella?

Dear Mumsnet,

Ruddy Tescos didn't have Paella rice, so I bought Risotto rice instead/ Will it be ok, and have the same results if I cook it the way the Paella recipe says to?

Yes, it will be fine. It's pretty much the same thing. Risotto is meant to be stirred while cooked. Paella is meant to be left so that a crust forms on the bottom. But the type of rice is more or less the same.

I made this last week but added red peppers at the veg roasting stage and extra prawns at the end.

Tasted just like Paella and used Risotto rice.

In fact, it was so nice, we're having it agian this week

Meant to say - it's also super easy. Just needs things adding every 20 mins or so. Was considering putting it on Mumsnet recipes as a perfect easy dinner.

I am making the Spanish Seafood Rice from the BBC Good Food mag for this month. Looks so easy even I can do it.

Also intend to make the fudgy chocolate Brownies from the same magazine....yumble.
