Slow cooker advice

I have wanted a slow cooker for ages but been a bit broke so haven't bought myself anything for months now.

Anyway my mother is coming to stay and says she is kindly going to buy me one. I'm struggling to get the head round the concept of leaving it on whilst at work. I leave the house at 7.30am. I get home at about 6.30pm usually and we eat about 7.30 (once DP is home). Will it be OK if I leave it on for that long?

Unfortunately this is coming from the lady who stupidly left her straightners on today so I'm sure it'll be fine but please reassure me! Thanks.

Yep it will be fine. I do exactly that (7.30 am - 6.30 pm on low) and this week I left some braising steak on all night too (on purpose!) - it wasn't any where near as tender as it should have been so I decided to leave it till morning and hey presto - it was perfect! Just had to re heat it again that night. Slow cookers are fab! PS - also known to leave my hair straightner's on all day too!!

Thanks for the reassurance. I can see DP giving me a look when I tell him I'm leaving it on.

Can't wait for it though. I'm much more a morning person so will enjoying chopping my veg and chucking it all in!
