No! at this time of year it should be soft and sweet - only gets stringy later in the year.

I've never done so, I don't quite know how you would. And I make a mean rhubarb crumble . Try some orange zest/squirt of juice in with your rhubarb, and a little ginger in the crumble if you fancy.
