Yesterday a very tired ds 2 announced he didnt want his tea. I had lost my voice and was too tired to argue so I said "ok then" and carried on with what i was doing..

What a master stroke!

He would not lweave me alone winging and climbing on me. I kept saying "thats ok - you go off and play2 but he wouldnt/ didnt.

In the end he gave up and ate all his tea!

EXACTLY!
If you show interest (argue/get cross) they get your attention and win the battle ! If you ignore it.... they will just do it as there is nothing gained !

yes but we all stress abit with food. dont we?

I must admit I never do the one more spoon business and am quite strict. It was just the total turn around that] amazed me.

Before having children, I asked my mother what had she done to make my brother and I such non-picky eaters (we both have always eaten everything). She said she couldn't remember having done anything. That didn't make sense to me until I had my ds and realized that if I just give him the same food we eat and don't react if he eats less one day, then he doesn't use food as a weapon. So now ds (2.5) eats everything and anything (to the point where when were in a japanese restaurant the other day and he was demanding more fish eggs, the man at the table next to us didn't believe that we'd never lived in japan).
