i am menu planning, bog standard stuff like pasta and homemade sauce, sausage and mash etc and was wondering what is a reasonable amount to spend per week/ month on food. this month (end feb to end march) i have £125 which isn't much but the month after i will be a little better off and want to set myself a regular amount. we are 2 adults (one v hungry dp) and one toddler (who eats the same as us). what do you reckon is reasonable?

we are 2 adults and 1 toddler and I spend about £300pm probably, including nappies & household stuff

We have 2 adults and 3 children, and I spend probably £85-90 per week, so maybe £400-450 a month??

(not that I'm suggesting you should model your food shopping on me, I'm not exactly Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife)

I just did an online shop for two weeks that came to £130. then I know I will always need bits and pieces and fresh veg and fruit so i reckon around £400 per month too for two adults and three DCs. that includes household cleaning stuff, shampoo, toilet roll etc.
