Help - too hot to drizzle?!

I am just cooking MarsLady's Lemon Diizzle cake but I am not sure if I have to wait until the cake cools down before putting the drizzle on top or do I do this straight out of the oven? Don't won't to stay up too late waiting for it to cool down unnecessarily.

haven't made her one but normally with lemon drizzle you poke holes in cake whilst its still hot and pour icing over so it soaks it all in as it cools and contracts
