A proper one done in the oven not microwave - how long does it take and do you have to prick it with a fork?

Thanks!

Turn on oven
Wash potato
Prick with a sharp knife
Put in a baking dish
Pour over some olive oil and grind some salt on top
Cook for about 2 hours
eat

no to olive oil

wash spud
dry spud
poke spud with big knife
salt spud
cook 90min, gas 7/210degrees

abride · 20/02/2010 18:44

You can speed the process up by microwaving the potato for 4 minutes in the microwave, then putting it in 180-200 degree oven for 25 minutes.

depending on the size of spud mine usually take 1hr in the fan oven at 180o
i prick mine all over with a fork then roll them in a little olive oil and ground rock salt
they're always crispy outside and creamy on the inside

wow - thanks all! Off to try it out - thanks again

Yes to olive oil for a nice crispy skin and microwaves. Life's too short to cook a potato for 90 minutes.

I don't like a potato cooked completely in the microwave but 6-8 minutes in the microwave then brush with olive oil and sprinkle sea salt over then 20-30 minutes in the oven at 180.

wash potato
prick with fork all over
cover potato in salt
put on oven tray
GM6 for 1hr 15m

perfect baking potato!

just adding the salt will give your baking potato the very crispy coating it needs. The crispier the better IMHO!

I don't bother pricking, but shove a metal skewer through the middle and that way they cook faster, too.

Pre-heated Gas 5, skewer, 1 hr, done!

Ivykaty44 · 22/02/2010 14:04

gas 6

prick potato with fork or knife

put on top shelf and wait one hour

take out and cut in half
use fork to mush up flesh

apply butter and filling

often tuna and mayo or beans and cheese
