Help needed- stupid me forgot to take beef out of freezer- can I cook it from frozen?

I need to cook a beef joint for friends tonight but stupidly forgot to get it out of the freezer last night.

Its a 120g slow roast joint without a bone, about the size of a large bag of sugar. I was planning to do it in slow cooker, but could cook it in oven instead.

I assume its unsafe to cook from frozen but am hoping some clever mumsnetters might be able to help. Anyone got a recipe that might work?

Fill sink with cold water and place wrapped joint in water. Leave for a couple of hours. that should do it. (I do this all the time - recommended as good method by my sis who's a beef farmer and qualified butcher. Or defrost in microwave but am assuming you haven't got one. HTH
