Be very careful!!!!

The only time ive cooked prawns from raw I had a sebere allergic reaction - apparently its cooking the prawns that releases the allergens.

I cooked my prawns a little first.

I would add them just 5 or 10 mins from the end. They dont take long to cook. Make sure they are completely pink/white and not transluscent.

Make sure your sauce is nice and hot, simmering on the hob, and just agdd the prawns three minutes before serving. Once they turn pink from grey they are cooked.

Cooking them any longer once they are pink will just make them tough.

nickschick what do you mean you cooked them a little first?

Surely if the OP isn't allergic to prawns she doesn't have to worry about this?

I cooked the prawns first as the curry sauce I was using was already prepared then I just added the prawns to the hot curry sauce (some of the other curry sauce was for a chicken curry iyswim)......I didnt realise I was allergic to prawns id eaten them all my life it was only the fumes of the raw prawns cooking that caused my allergic reaction.

Yes, just really minimal, fast cooking. Check them at three minutes and cook a bit longer if not quite done. I frequently overcook prawns because I don't follow my own advice!
