I'd like to cook something a little bit different, but still quite quick to make (probably won't get started until after kids bedtime!).

I'm looking for ideas to steal PS DH doesn't eat tomatoes

Has to be oysters, champagne and edible knickers, doesn't it?

sheeplikessleep · 09/02/2010 10:47

At 33 weeks preggers, I just want some nice tasty comfort food that we don't have very often

Edible knickers? Edible maternity support band maybe

well I am having another couple over for dinner (NB NOT swinging, ha ha)on the Saturday night and am considering doing scallops with black pudding to start, lamb cutlets for main (but not decided what with/sauce etc yet) and poss something like a strawberry cheesecake to finish (I know not in season but pink!).

However would love to see what everyone else thinks to give me some ideas!

Will prob get takeaway curry on V Day itself!

Have 16 family members here on Valentine's Day so edible knickers not an option.

Normally Valentine's Day DH cooks for me. ( One of the only times in the year...). He normally does scallops cooked with butter and garlic with posh bread and salad and then Harrods English chocolates. Not exactly taxing but very indulgent.

when you say he doesn't eat tomatoes? does that include tomato based sauces? stupid question possibly......

Iklboo · 10/02/2010 14:17

On Saturday we'll be having

Scallops with chorizo and a pea puree

Steak with dauphiniose potatoes, asparagus & bearnaise sauce

Tiramisu

GreatOrmondSt - yeah, he doesn't eat tomato based sauces (unfortunately, as i love those!)

He's said he quite fancies a steak, so might go down that route.

Dauphinoise potatoes are lovely - i might look those up!

Scallops are popular

Steak is a winner with any man, although it never tates as good at home as what it does in a restaurant. Have a look at this article, it explains how to cook the perfect steak!
