Okay I have 4 lemons, and some sugar

I want to make lemonade but don't know how.

Anyone?

Slice up the lemons fairly thinly, pour on about two mugs worth of very hot water, then stir in about 2 tablespoons of sugar and top it up with cold water to taste. Easiest quickest way I know.

That still ends up with a nice tartness though, so more sugar if you want it really sweet.

Oh, and either pick out all the pips first or be careful when you pour it out - and wash the lemons well first.

Sorry I wasn't around to answer but glad you enjoyed it. I wouldn't squeeze the lemons because I'm lazy, I like 'bits' (in lemonade, not in OJ) and its easier!! LOL

My mum used to make it like that, only she used citric acid instead of tartaric acid. She used to leave it to stand in the bucket for 24 hours too, to get more flavour out of the lemons.

I have some citric acid; might go and get some lemons tomorrow ...

I can still smell it ... it's no good, I have to go out tomorrow and buy lemons.

I had an awful job getting citric acid, they refused to sell it to me in Boots ... apparently it can be used to cut with heroin and they obviously thought I looked dodgy

Luckily my mother is a much less suspicious looking specimen and she managed to get me some.

I always zest the lemons then make a syrup with the zest, sugar and water. I add this syrup to the lemon juice, then more sugar to taste.

It's not just me that looks like a potential heroin dealer then ...
