dumb question - meatballs - how do I cook them?

I've made some tomato sauce and bought some meatballs but I'm not sure how to cook them (idiot alert, sorry!). Could I put the sauce in the oven with the meatballs on top and cook like that?

Thanks!!

I'm not sure how you are supposed to cook them, but I bake mine in the overn (on greaseproof paper, by themselves, without sauce) whilst the sauce is simmering on the hob then plop them into the sauce for the last few mins of cooking. I don't do them for the whole time like that as the pan isn't big enough to make sure they all get cooked throughly, IYSWIM.

That sounds sensible, thanks I will do that!

same as not10 - the packaged ones always say grill or fry, but I always put in the oven for about 15 mins(and am at the amount of fat that comes off)

If they are already precooked ie the sweedish meatballs I would just put them straight into the sauce and heat them through.

They are the uncooked packaged ones and I did wonder about the lard factor!

I always fry mine off in extra virgin olive oil and then pour over for tomato sauce then bake in the oven with mozzarella on...yum
