For once I have the time and inclination to bake for a school cake sale, but no inspiration as to what to make.

Bored of fairy cakes. DS won't eat chocolate. Any other ideas welcome.

Thanks

3 oz butter
5 oz sugar
1 tin evporated milk

Melt all together then boil carefully, stirring all the time for 20 mins till it goes toffee-like,

Stir in lots of Rice Crispies, turn into greased tin and flatten, chill then cover with melted chocolate if desired.

Absolute teeth-rottingly sweet and sickly, just what you need at school!

Melt 4 marsbars and a knob of butter and add rice crispies!

Hahahaha

Biscuits:
8oz flour
4 oz each butter and sugar
Small dash grated lemon rind

Mix all together, add drop of milk to bind if needed, roll out and cut into shapes (I have hand and foot cutters which are always popular) Bake 10 -15 mns. Ice toenails!

MMB my rice crispie cake recipe (not mars bar variety, which is as you describe) is different and sounds a bit quicker - from memory it is something like 100g toffees (sains/tesco value ones work fine), 100g marshmallows and 100g butter - melt and stir until gloopy, add rice krispies.

(disclaimer - I am not at home and don't have the recipe so I may have quantities wrong - it's a Mary Berry recipe so I am sure it could be googled)

Mine came from my primary school recipe book from the '70's!

mini carrot cakes with cream cheese frosting

mini lemon drizzle

muffins - but a bit pedestrian and need to do on the morning of sale really

cookies - 8 or so piled high on top of each other, wrapped in cellophane bag with pretty ribbon sell well

flapjacks - lovely with blueberries and frozen rasps in

butterfly cakes

mini cheesecakes

Or if they sell slices, there are lots of really good big almond cakes that are economical to make and normally go down well with adults. Is it adults or kids eating the cake?! Also almond ones keep really well

Is this a Bake it Better cake sale?
