Quick question, took mince out of freezer last night to defrost overnight, was planning to cook shepherds pie tonight, and then keep in fridge to re-hear for tomorrow nights dinner, have visitors tomorrow so wont have time to cook tomorrow, will mince be OK being out of the freezer this long and then re-heated??

Have done exactly this before, and haven't killed anyone (yet.....)

By cooking the defrosted mince you deal with the bacteria and keeping it in the fridge slows it coming back. As long as you cool the cooked pie down as quickly as possible and then reheat it thoroughly (the old 'piping hot' test) the next day you should be fine.

Thanks ladies, was in a panic and contemplating having to go to supermarket to get fresh mince, so you have saved me a trip (one less thing to do
