I've bought a pack of fish pieces to make my first fish pie, they are bite sized pieces do I need to poach them before I put them into my sauce and into the oven or can I make the sauce and stir in the raw fish and then cook in the oven?

They should be fine to put straight into the sauce and left to cook for a few mins, esp if it's going in the oven afterwards.

i pour sauce over raw fish as per Jamie Oliver's fantastic fish pie recipe, which is great - lots of other recipes would poach the fish first though i think...is that any help at all

I've done it both ways, and definitrly the raw fish with hot sauce poured over then into the oven us better. It means the fish is not overcooked.
