Am wondering if I can manage to make a cake for DS's birthday that ALL the guests are able to eat??
Is it possible to make a cake or fairy cakes that are gluten AND egg free? I have bought some gluten free flour but got a bit stuck at that point

Have a look at vegan websites. They'll have non-egg recipes, may even have gluten-free section. Is there a recipe on the flour bag?

Generally you'll be using oil and/or yoghurt to bind. You can also by a 'egg' alternative that can be used instead of egg. Have a look in 'Allergies' threads. I'm pretty sure there was a similar thread recently.

I made these blueberry muffins over the weekend which were yummy. I simply switched plain flour for Doves Farm gluten free flour and put a drop of vanilla extract in and a tsp of xanthan gum and they were so divine that I've just made another (double) batch, half of them raspberry and white chocolate. Easy peasy and removes any need to ice as they look so pretty already.

Otherwise, what about Nigella's flourless chocolate brownies? You could cut them into squares, stack, dust with icing sugar and put pretty candles in, like she does with another brownie recipe in Feast I think.
