Not very healthy but delicious - meatball subs:

Drain a can of thickly chopped tomatoes so most of the juice has gone. Fry some finely chopped onion & garlic, maybe mixed peppers & mushrooms (also finely chopped) and a pinch of chilli powder if you like spicy. Add meatballs and warm through.

Cut a slit lengthways in the top of the sub roll (like a hot dog roll). Spoon in yhe meatballs and some of the tomato mixture.

Top with cheese & pop under the grill until melted. Add a dollop of sour cream & serve with wedges.

The subs sound very yummy indeed - never heard of that idea - good one!!

On a pizza - never thought of that either!!! What stops them rolling off??

They're nice if you do a pasta bake think too (one of those cheaty jar ones). Just bung 'em in near the end when it tells you to top with cheese.

Winter comfort food - meatballs with gnocci, tomato sauce and sliced mozarella, torn basil, oven for 15 mins.....heaven

I usually brown the meatballs, chop onion, green pepper and fry, add garlic, bung in a pot with meatballs and add a jar of 'extra special' or whatever passatta (cos it has herbs etc in it) and cook for however long, serve with spaghetti.

do them with a Scandinavian cream sauce and berry compote a la the Ikea restaurant?!

If they're lamb ones serve with spicy tomato sauce roast squash with cumin seeds and cous cous.

I usually mix mince with fresh herbs and garlic and egg roll them into meatballs and fry them off.
in another pot fry 1 large onion and put 2-3 cans of chopped tomotoes, herbs , salt ,pepper, tomotoe puree and a little sugar, pop the meatballs in i also put olives in the sauce then leave to cook kids also love it. :-)
