I don't eat fish but have bought m&s mediterranean fishcakes for dp and ds tonight and have realised I have nothing to go with it. Any suggestions on a couple of good side dishes?

we usually have a salad adn chips! not terribly exciting I know

FimbleHobbs · 20/01/2010 15:25

chips and mushy peas of course!

we usually do Sweet potato wedges (like more carbs but officially a veg ) and veg (broccoli/courgette/peas/carrots/whatever we have)

though we did serve fishcakes with loads of stirfry veg and a sweet chilli sauce and that worked surprisingly well.

We do fishcakes all the time (too much prob) - a tin of salmon goes faaaar with a few potatoes (and even I can make them, so easy!)

Funny that chips are the obvious response for you Fimblehobbs. As fishcakes have a lot of potato in, it would never cross my mind to have chips or any other form of potato.

We have salad or veg or baked beans.

Peas. Or broccoli. I wouldn't usually serve them with potato, I don't think. Though in a restaurant I'd be disappointed if they didn't come with a bowl of skinny fries, now I come to think of it.

I'm liking the sweet potato wedges idea. esp as i think there is a chance ds might actually eat them. and i'm having something quorn based so they would go with that too. will have a think as to how to do the veg....
