Anyone tried almond butter?

Read in a weekend supplement that almond butter is the new peanut butter, in that it's more nutritious and less fattenining.

I'm a keen peanut butter fan and have it on toast every morning.

Has anyone tried almond butter/where can you buy it as haven't seen them at Sainsbury/is it tasty?

what's cashew butter like,while we're about it ?

LOVE it. (And I'm a big pb fan, too.) I doubt it's less fattening though. You can get it in health food stores, usually.

I used to buy a lot of nut butters, had forgotton about them, must give them another go! I get mine from health food shops.

Not so keen on almond as it tends to get a lot of oil floating on top while the paste underneath can get quite dry. Cashew was rather disappointing but hazlenut butter is really nice. I like it on an onion bagel (no dairy butter) with slice tomato on top. V yummy.

I love cashew nut butter. I could sit down with a jar and a spoon and not stop until it's all gone.

Have been looking for cashew nut butter recently, but can't find it. Even tried Waitrose (posh emotion!). Where do you get it LetThereBeRock?

I get it from delis, but Asda also sell it though there are peanut pieces in there too but even so it's delicious.

Wow - looks like I will defo have to try almond butter and cashew butter. I am such a "savoury" person, prefer savoury to sweet anyday.

Off to Holland & Barrett/Asda I go.

Went to Holland and Barrett yesterday. Looked at the almond butter which had a huge pool of oil at the top, so was put off. However, bought the cashew nut butter which I tried this morning on toast. Lovely subtle taste, not as IYF as peanut butter. I think would be great for puddings which need a nutty taste. Off to check out recipes.......

Love almond and cashew nut butters! Almond butter probably had the oil on top because it doesn't have those additives in to make sure it doesn't separate. All you have to do is stir it in well. I only get no added anything nut butters and they are always initially separated.

Delicious! Great for fattening up skinny babies too
