...I trained my 4 yo dd up to enter one of the childrens' baking classes at the Malton Show? (She'll be 5 by then if it helps ).
She is completely obsessed by baking and is currently sitting poring over the Lakeland Catalogue.

Am thinking of entering something myself in one of the grown-up classes but frankly she probably has more chance than I do of winning.

As long as it was done in fun and you let her forget about it if she lost interest before, then I don't see why

Oh, I would def let her forget about it if she lost interest - I haven't the energy for battles
I wouldn't let her get too hung up on getting a prize either - would tell her it was about making the best cake she could possibly make, and the excitement of seeing her entry on the table with everyone else's.
(You get free entry to the show in return for your £4 entry fee as well.)
