Spring veg soup (in winter)

I am looking for a recipe for vegetable soup.

There was a soup on sale in shops this autumn made by the Yorkshire Provender with green veg and kaffir lime laves. It was divine - quite a light broth with loads of lovely veg. Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

I don't have one with kaffir lime leaves but I made a nice one at the weekend - barley and vege broth. No recipe, as I made it up but it went something like:

Cook some barley until nearly soft.
Meanwhile fry some onion, leek, carrot, potato, garlic.
Add barley, barley cooking water, stock and fresh thyme and a few chilli flakes if wished.
Cook until all soft - I did this in the oven because I couldn't be bothered to stir it.
It was even better next day with some frozen peas and corn to bulk it out and after all the other stuff had melded together a bit.

That sounds nice. Am off to supermarket in a minute so will barley add to my list. I've never cooked with before but assume it is pretty simple? Thanks very much.

Tis v simple. I just poured boiling water over it and microwaved it for a bit before adding to the soup.
