You may have already seen this but I was searching today for some new ideas for the dc's lunches and found THIS on the eatwell.gov.uk website.

Some of the ideas seem weird (especially sat in a lunchbox for the whole morning) but definitely some good ideas.

There's a lot of these things that I would like to eat (although as you say, Stirling, not that sure I'd like a banana sandwich that had been sitting in a lunchbox all morning ).

However, the time it would take to devise, shop for and make all of these menus is pretty unrealistic, IMHO. And the cost is fairly substantial too. £1.88 per head for a packed lunch is £28.20 per week in our house, which is quite a lot.

I was half-listening to the news the other day when they were talking about how only 1 in 100 lunchboxes meets nutritional standards... I don't underestimate the importance of feeding children well, but surely it has to be looked at in the context of the child's overall daily diet, and not just one meal provided by a parent constrained by what can feasibly go in a lunchbox?
