its to go with stuffed pasta (don't have quite enough pasta so am padding it out). bored of stir-frying it. only got one apple and apparently dd needs that for art at school got some carrots and a couple of onions also got a swede.

we *really^ need to go shopping!

ok.
I could shred the cabbage, put the pasta on the top - then cover it with either... a cheese sauce or a tomato sauce and bake.
which would be nicer?

gone with tomato. and coriander seeds and a bit of cheese on top.
this could be rather an odd dinner.

Italian recipe from my Carluccio book...

In a pan with a lid fry up chopped smoked bacon (or pancetta), with garlic and red chilli. Then turn heat up high, stir in the chopped cabbage turning it all to coat the cabbage in the oily, bacony mixture. Add a slosh of water and slam lid on to flash steam the cabbage. Shake pan about. (This last step only takes 2-3 minutes)

Season well with black pepper. Serve.

it's very easy and dead tasty.

Got any bacon? Chop up the bacon and fry in a saucepan, chop and wash cabbage and chuck in pan on top of the bacon and allow to cook. Stir it all up so everything tastes bacony and gobble the whole lot with bread, delicious!

Hehe, just realised lindsaygii has posted almost the same idea!

I'd make winter coleslaw

Bacon and cabbage - heavenly combination!

no bacon! would have been very nice but thank you, I usually get a lot of cabbages from riverford so I can try those recipes another time. Thank you

it actually tasted really yummy in the end. I chopped it up with an onion. Put the stuffed pasta on top, poured over tin toms and some chicken stock (stock cube) and grated cheese over it. 40 mins in the oven.
