Ive got a slow cooker ive never used and the recipes in the manual aren't all that inspiring.

What are your tried and tested recipes? The less prep the better!

All recipes welcome

I have this book too.

If I'm in a rush (for prep not cooking - that would defeat the object) I've been known to use a cook in sauce as the 'stock'. Still very nice - especially beef in ale type ones. I make herby dumplings too [yum]

Thanks! Ill have a look at the books in more detail

Meat and/or pulses plus root veg and a tin of condensed soup, Campbell's mushroom is good. We're having chicken and mushroom casserole tonight...

Otherwise bulk cook chilli, pasta sauce, anything with sausages in, soup, chickpeas and chorizo. Just remember, very little liquid - I usually don't add any.

Just had sausages, onion, garlic, tin of tomatoes, tin of mixed beans and a bit of salt and pepper done in the slow cooker for tea. Took about 5 mins to throw together this morning but is better if you brown off the sausages first.

Any combo of beef or lamb and vegetables is good, soups are easy too.

my own slight variation on this, done in slow cooker obv. DC absolutely loved it.

meat cubed, tin of beans, squirt of tom sauce, thyme, garlic clove, chopped onion, dash of white wine, stock cube - its basically recipe for normal oven minus the stock liquid. its sort of comes out like a french traditional stew with lots of beans, but much easer.

curry - tin toms, meat, curry powder chopped onion and apple, chutney, stock cube - again recipe for the hob minus the stock liquid

or just shove a whole bit of meat in and add a cupfull of stock, wine or beer or water. you could also add veg but needs to be chopped unless mushrooms
