Does homemade taste much better than shop bought?

Mmmm yes, depending on where you buy it I suppose. I'm sure Selfridges or somewhere like that do a mean one. But DH's chicken liver pate made my christmas - try it on toast with butter and sweet and sour gherkin slices on top - yum!

But say compared to Sainsbury's then you would be better to make you own?

Yes, definitely. DH got his recipe from Nigel Slater's Appetite book and it's really quick and easy to make. And yummy.
