Blimey, Nigella is 50!

Possibly more of an 'in the news' thing! I'm not sure how old I thought she was, but would never have put her at 50! Is this what all that butter, cream and midnight fridge-raiding does for you?

It's sickening, isn't it.

I know I won;t look like that at 50.

She doesn't look like she has had anything done, either, does she?

MarthaFarquhar · 06/01/2010 11:43

I would never have guessed.
She is DH's celebrity crush, and, it turns out, the same age as his mother .

Poledra · 06/01/2010 11:44

Shit, I don't look like that at not-quite-forty, never mind 50

nickytwotimes · 06/01/2010 11:45

Bloody hell!
Dh loves her too.
She is beautiful.

said · 06/01/2010 11:48

She's not allowed herself to go grey which helps a lot.

Winetimeisfinetime · 06/01/2010 11:50

She's beautiful anyway but does look great for 50 - especially when you think how much stress she has had in her life { husband, sister, mother all dying young of cancer }.

NobodyKnowsIAmACat · 06/01/2010 11:57

I don't look that good at 30! And she's definitely my celebrity crush She has had a lot of tragedy in her life, it's true, so good on her. She really seems to enjoy life, maybe that's the secret!

She's a very handsome woman. Of course most of us won't look as good as Nigella at 50 - because we didn't look as good at 25, either!

wasabipeanut · 06/01/2010 12:04

She is beautiful but I have also read that she is quite strict about keeping out of the sun. I suspect that has a lot to do with it.

I also think that the fact she isn't skinny probably helps a bit too. Mega thin women do seem to age faster.

I think she's ace.

Poledra · 06/01/2010 12:05

My DH says I'm handsome - d'you think that means I'll be stunning at 50?

Or is it just because he wanted a bit of 'ow's yer father?

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/01/2010 12:06

I agree that never going in the sun and being a bit plump probably helps her face look good. BBut she is a beauty anyway, so a lot is genetics I expect.

havoc · 06/01/2010 12:13

She is so beautiful, I agree that avoiding the sun and not been vv skinny is good for your skin. But she has a lot of make up on, though, hasn't she? (I'm clutching at straws here, she's ten years older than me, but looks 10 years younger!)

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/01/2010 12:15

DP loves her, hers is the only cookery show he will watch, and I am sure it's not because he wants to learn how to make morrocan stews.

wasabipeanut · 06/01/2010 12:16

She's had so much sadness in her life it seems
harsh to begrudge her the natural beauty that she has.

I know which I'd rather have.

I love Nigella

Her first cookery book, How To Eat is parctically falling apart I have used it so much. It's a great read even if you don't intend to cook anything.

I love her style and her attitude to life.

GetOrfMoiLand · 06/01/2010 12:29

Verity - I am the same with her books, I just read them for comforting pleasure. How to eat is wonderfully written (as is Feast imo).

My How to Eat is in tatters.

NobodyKnowsIAmACat · 06/01/2010 12:29

Being plump and staying out of the sun? In that case I'm going to be Grace Kelly by the time I'm 50! Wahey!

Wasabi - absolutely, I definitely don't begrudge her it (though I am steamingly jealous of her kitchen).

That's an old library picture though.

(although yes, I do begrudgingly agree that she's still much more beautiful at 50 than I am at 34 or indeed was at 21 )
