Right - I'm going to be more organised this year and plan the majority of our meals in advance to cut down (in order of priority) on stress and expense a little bit. Just need to think what to cook...

So far:

Spag Bol
Lasgagne
Meatballs and pasta
Pasta and tomoato sauce
Curry - tikka
Curry - thai
Roast Beef
Roast Lamb
Toad in the hole
Oven roasted sausages without toad
Cottage Pie
Spinach cannelloni
Beefburgers
Jacket spuds
Omelettes (children only)
Tuna pasta bake (children only)
Bacon and egg (me only)
Pasta and pesto (dh only)
Beef stew
Chicken and leek stroganoff
Lentil soup
Minced beef wellington
pasta and sausage and cream thing

What else?

Brilliant - thanks for this as I am sorely out of inspiration right now. Added complication for us is that three out of four of us are veggie:

  • pasta bake using that huge rigatoni stuff and roasted vege and olives
  • lentil soup with bread and cheese
  • qaesadillas with homemade wedges and mango salsa
  • leek and pea baked risotto
  • chickpea curry and rice
  • baked potatoes with veggie sausage casserole
- puy lentil casserole
  • lentil chilli
  • Thai vege curry
  • Spanish omelette and salad
  • stuffed peppers with roasted garlicy new potatoes
  • cheese and potato pie and spiced peas
  • quorn or vegetable fajitas

Janeite - my mum loves mushroom and cheese omelettes if that helps?

Thanks for the suggestions - can't believe I forgot fajitas and chilli!!!

Mushroom and cheese omelettes v good for dp and I but the barbariansgirls won't eat mushrooms.

pizza pinwheels are so easy if you want a super-quick tea.

On epacket of reasy rolled puff pastry, spread it with either tinned chopped tomatoes and puree or with a jar of pasta sauce, then sprinkle grated cheese on before rolling up again. Cut into 12 pieces, brush with egg, cook for 20 mins. Serve with salad.

You could add all sorts of extras for fillings natch.

crusty shepherds pie - lamb mince, passata etc with cheese scones on top (2 teaspoons of wholgrain mustard in the cheese scones)

Janeite, you liked the chickpea curry then? Glad to hear it.

We'd add butternut squash risotto to the list, stirfries too and a chicken and vegetable cous cous thing for the night after the roast chicken.

Still not actually followed a recipe for chickpea curry - just stick it all in a pan and see what happens. I will try it though as it did sound lovely.

Butternut squash risotto sounds good, except I bloomin' hate peeling and chopping the darn things.
