Beef Brisket help needed

We are hosting a meal on new years eve for 12 my husband took it upon himself to go to the butchers this morning to get the meet and has ended up with a cut of beef brisket which I have never cooked before.

I can cook but tend to need exact measurements etc to feel confident and have found a Jamie receipe online but it doesn't give the size of brisket he is using for me to scale up the ingredients.

Can anyone give me a scaled receipe or some help at least

Tomme, do you have a slow cooker?

I did beef brisket (just over 1kg I think) the other week - browned ot off in a frying pan on the hob and then threw it in the slow cooker with a bottle of Guinness, a couple of bay leaves, onion, carrots, small potatoes and parnips. I usually fry off onions etc but was in a rush and didn't bother - it was fine. No measurements though I'm afraid.

It was very nice, although more family dinner than dinner party iyswim. I think I cooked it for about 8 hours, but slow cooker times are pretty open-ended imo.

Found a MN rercipe here that doesn't use a slow cooker which might help.

Also one here

Much the same as Otter, but usually add beef stock and a bouquet garni rather than Guiness. No slow cooker so I would usually do it at Gas 3 for about 2.5 hours

I asked my butcher when I first bought brisket, and he said to put it in a covered pyrex dish with couple of cms of water and an oxo cube or two and cook it at a low heat (generally 150) for at least 2-3 hours (that was a piece big enough for 2/3 people).

I did a Nigella Lawson recipe with brisket which was Pot Roasted Beef. Was devine.

Only used the Guinness because I had some, iykwim. Would usually use a slug of red wine or a bit of stock.
