I am cooking New Years Day meal for 7 adults and 3 children and am thinking about Salmon

What size would i need? How long to cook for and any suggestions on what to serve with it?

Or thinking joint of beef?

I'd say 150-200g per adult and 50g per child. Will you be buying steaks or a very large (2 large) whole fish?

Fillets would be easiest and I prefer my salmon less cooked than many, so I do about 5 minutes per side under the broiler.

Salmon ideas:

  • broiled (as above) with a sorrel sauce served with boiled baby new potatoes
  • miso marinated then broiled as above served with sushi rice and sesame spinach
-poached in olive oil served with ratatouille -baked with cumin and orange served with coriander couscous

mmm they all sound very nice

Im not a great fish eater but i do like Salmon - i tend to stick it in the oven for 20 mins when i do it and thats about it!

I think i will go for boiled baby new pots but not sure on sauce

May do some couscous - but they really are a meat and 2 veg family so not sure any of them will eat it!
