Birthday cake recipe for a novice pls

Want to make a birthday cake for bil for xmas day don't really want to make a victoria sponge style with 2 layers so does anyone have a recipe for a non-layer cake pls? Oh and the dc want to decorate it with 100s and 1000s!!! Thanks.

bit tin, or shaped tin, or pyrex bowl, no layers make it into a ladybird / princess / train - obv depending on age and gender of the birthday person! that way you can still do a good ol' vic sponge, stick some cherries or a bit of chocolate powder in if you feel the urge and cover it in butter icing. Sorted?!

If you're a chocolatey bunch Nigella's chocolate loaf cake is gorgeous and you could use 100s and 1000s instead of the chocolate on the top.
